Appointment of Roger Hogarth as Executive Chairman of CIEL Healthcare Africa Limited

CIEL Healthcare Limited (‘CHL’) Board of Directors has appointed Roger Hogarth as Executive Chairman of CIEL Healthcare Africa Limited (‘CHA’), its management company, effective immediately. Alex Alexander, Managing Director of CIEL Healthcare Africa will report directly to Roger.

“We are very pleased to welcome Roger to support CIEL Healthcare Africa’s development and ambitions. Roger has a proven and extensive experience in healthcare management in South Africa. He will be instrumental in growing the company’s expertise and developing best-in-class management systems in collaboration with Fortis Healthcare and our teams” said Jean-Pierre Dalais, Chairman of CIEL Healthcare.
Roger brings 35 years’ corporate experience in South Africa. A registered chartered accountant by training – CA (SA), Roger spent most of his career with Afrox, the listed industrial gases and welding company, which expanded into hospitals in the 1980’s. Roger was part of the healthcare management team when the healthcare business was spun-off and renamed Life Healthcare in 2005 and later listed on the JSE in 2010. Roger was previously General Manager, Finance and Admin, Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer of Life Healthcare which is the second largest private hospital operator in South Africa, with 8,800 acute care beds.

CIEL Healthcare Africa Limited currently manages, in association with Fortis Healthcare, all existing CIEL Healthcare assets in Sub-Saharan Africa including the International Medical Group in Uganda and Hygeia Nigeria Limited in Nigeria accounting for a total of 3 hospitals, 16 clinics and 14 worksite clinics.
