Alex Ismail Managing Partner BC Partners

Alex Ismail is a global leader with significant international experience, a proven track record of achieving sustained organic and inorganic growth leading portfolio technology companies across multiple industries and end markets. He has served in executive positions for Fortune 100 companies in Europe, the U.S and Africa.



He recently became a Managing Partner of the Private Equity firm BC Partners based in the New York Office. Alex is involved in all aspects of investment origination and portfolio management across Europe and the US, and work closely with the firm’s integrated operations team. BC Partners is a leading international private equity firm with over €12 billion of assets under management. Established in 1986, BC Partners has played an active role in developing the European buy-out market for nearly three decades. Since inception, BC Partners has completed 91 investments in companies with a total enterprise value of nearly €100 billion. BC Partners began to raise its tenth buyout fund, targeting €7 billion ($7.4 Billion). 

Alex spent nearly 20 years in European and US-based leadership positions within Honeywell. He successively became a Corporate Officer of Honeywell International and President & CEO of Honeywell’s Transportation System and most recently President & CEO of Automation and Control Solutions, Honeywell’s largest division responsible for over US$15bn of sales and 65,000 employees globally. As CEO of Automation and Control Solutions (ACS), Alex delivered record financial performance, built high-performing diverse teams, invested over $8bn as part of a successful acquisition-based expansion strategy, and drove numerous value-accretive operational improvements. Alex has transformed ACS for long term success. He has accelerated growth from new products, technology and software for the Internet of Things (IoT), emerging regions and developed new channels such as retail and e-commerce. He initially worked at AlliedSignal Aerospace before its acquisition by Honeywell and spent several years in the textile industry in Madagascar. 

A native of Madagascar, Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Dauphine, France, and a master in business administration from the HEC School of Management in France. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and speaks three languages. He has been featured as an industry expert in dozens of recognized publications including The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Bloomberg Businessweek and Automotive News.  

In his personal time, Alex is an aircraft pilot and an avid classic racecar driver and winner of the Morocco Classic Race. He is married to Virginie, a psychologist, and has two sons. After graduating from Wharton Business School, Tim joined Lazard, a financial advisory firm based in New-York and Elliott, a rising senior at Wharton Business School will join Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in New York.
